Join admission and Matriculation Board (jamb)

As of January 27, 2025, here are the latest updates regarding the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB):

Centre Accreditation for 2025 UTME: JAMB has commenced the accreditation process for centers to be used in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This step is crucial in ensuring that all examination centers meet the required standards for the upcoming exams.

Admission Age Policy and Legal Developments: In October 2024, JAMB issued a directive stating that only candidates who would be 16 years old by August 31, 2025, were eligible for admission. This policy faced legal challenges, leading to a Delta State High Court restraining JAMB from implementing the directive. Subsequently, in November 2024, the same court ordered Nigerian universities to admit all 2024 UTME candidates who met the necessary qualifications, including those turning 16 between September 1 and December 31, 2025.

Cancellation of 2024 Direct Entry Aptitude Test: JAMB announced the cancellation of the aptitude test for 2024 Direct Entry candidates. Instead, other criteria will be considered for admissions, with plans to reintroduce the aptitude test in subsequent years after adequate preparations.

Measures Against Admission Malpractices: In August 2024, JAMB unveiled new strategies to combat illegal admissions in Nigerian tertiary institutions. The board emphasized that all admissions must be processed through the Central Admission Process System (CAPS) and warned institutions against non-compliance, stating that severe sanctions would be imposed on violators.
