Luka Dončić Launches $5 Million Free Medical Outreach for Underprivileged Communities, July 1–11, 2025 — Over 500 to Receive Vital Services Including Surgeries, Screenings, and Medications
NBA superstar Luka Dončić has announced a groundbreaking $5 million humanitarian initiative aimed at transforming healthcare access for underprivileged communities in his home country of Slovenia. The program, a large-scale free medical outreach, will run from July 1 to July 11, 2025, providing hundreds of residents with life-changing medical care at no cost.
Set to benefit over 500 individuals, the outreach will offer a wide range of essential health services, including general medical checkups, diagnostic screenings, surgical procedures, pediatric care, maternal health support, dental services, and the distribution of prescription medications. Mobile clinics and temporary medical camps will be established in both urban and rural areas, ensuring even the most remote communities are reached.
“This is about giving back to the country that shaped who I am,” said Dončić in a heartfelt statement. “Too many people in Slovenia, especially in underserved areas, are living without access to basic medical care. If I can help change that—even a little—then I’m doing something worthwhile.”
The initiative is being carried out in partnership with local hospitals, international medical volunteers, and Slovenian NGOs. A team of over 200 medical professionals, including doctors, surgeons, nurses, and pharmacists, will participate in the campaign. According to organizers, priority will be given to children, the elderly, and individuals suffering from chronic illnesses who are unable to afford regular care.
Luka Dončić has long been known for his philanthropic efforts, particularly toward children’s health and education, but this marks his most ambitious charitable project to date. The outreach is expected not only to treat immediate health concerns but also to raise awareness about preventive care, hygiene, and nutrition through community education sessions and wellness workshops.
Dončić’s foundation, which oversees his philanthropic ventures, stated that part of the $5 million will be used to purchase medical equipment for rural clinics and to fund follow-up care for patients requiring long-term treatment.
Local officials and community leaders have welcomed the initiative with open arms. “This effort could not have come at a better time,” said Dr. Marija Kranjc, director of a public health clinic in eastern Slovenia. “We are still seeing the impact of economic challenges and healthcare gaps post-pandemic. Luka’s generosity is going to save lives and restore hope.”
The program also includes mental health support services, an often overlooked aspect of community health. Licensed therapists and counselors will be available during the outreach to provide one-on-one consultations and group therapy sessions.
As one of Slovenia’s most beloved sports icons, Dončić continues to use his platform for meaningful change. While his impact on the basketball court is undeniable, it is this kind of off-court leadership that has deepened his connection with fans around the world—and especially back home.
The outreach is open to all eligible Slovenians in need, regardless of age or background. Registration centers will begin accepting applications starting June 1, 2025, with priority slots reserved for those with the most urgent medical needs.
