Clemson’s Tavoy Feagin to Enter Transfer Portal Following Spring Game
Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney is facing a notable roster shakeup following the program’s annual spring game on April 5. Second-year cornerback and former four-star recruit Tavoy Feagin has officially announced his intention to enter the NCAA transfer portal, becoming the Tigers’ first spring transfer window departure.
Feagin, a 6-foot, 180-pound defensive back from Tampa, Florida, originally signed with Clemson as the No. 25-ranked cornerback in the 2024 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite. A former Under Armour All-American, Feagin chose the Tigers from a pool of 52 scholarship offers coming out of Carrollwood Day High School.
Despite his high-profile recruitment, Feagin struggled to find playing time during his freshman campaign, logging just 11 snaps across two games. He ultimately redshirted the 2024 season and will now have four years of eligibility remaining as he seeks a fresh start at another program.
This move comes as the NCAA’s spring transfer window (April 16–25) approaches. Clemson had previously experienced minimal roster turnover following an impressive 2024 campaign that included an ACC Championship and College Football Playoff appearance. The Tigers lost six players and added three during the winter transfer window, and while any departure stings, the loss of Feagin is not expected to derail the defensive backfield.
New defensive coordinator Tom Allen inherits a cornerback room rich in returning talent. Avieon Terrell, a junior and All-ACC second-team selection, is set to lead the unit, joined by veteran Jeadyn Lukus, who started 10 games last season, and Ashton Hampton, who made appearances in all 14 games as a true freshman in 2024.
While Feagin’s transfer is a setback in terms of depth and potential, Clemson remains well-positioned in the secondary. Swinney and his staff will likely keep an eye on the portal in case reinforcements are needed as the Tigers gear up for another title-contending season.
